On April 26, 2026, at the Griffin Arena of the Museum-Temple Complex "New Chersonese" in Sevastopol, as part of the "Angel of Chersonese" forum, the concert "Angel of Chersonese" will take place. The event will bring together symphonic music, choral singing, ballet, and poetic recitation, showcasing the multifaceted nature of the Russian classical tradition.
The concert is organized with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the All-Russian public movement "Russian Dream" and will become one of the key events of the spring season. The project is aimed at preserving and popularizing Russia's musical heritage, as well as creating an accessible cultural environment for a wide audience.
The musical component of the evening is led by conductors Filipp Selivanov and Denis Karlov. Director and choreographer — Ilya Ustyantsev (Mariinsky Theatre). Producers of the concert — Dmitry Dedukh and Tatiana Antonovskaya.
Host — Alexander Malich.
The concert features:
· Soloists from leading Russian theatres:
· Gleb Periazev (bass), soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre;
· Ekaterina Shpilman (soprano), soloist of the D. D. Shostakovich Theatre;
· Agunda Kulaeva (mezzo-soprano), soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia;
· Alexey Tatarintsev (tenor), soloist of the Novaya Opera Theatre, guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre;
· Ballet soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre — Maria Bulanova and Vladislav Khodasevich.
The concert features two leading ensembles:
· The "New Harmony" Symphony Orchestra conducted by Filipp Selivanov and Denis Karlov. The ensemble brings together experienced musicians representing the traditions of the Russian symphony school.
· The Archiereus Choir of the St. Vladimir Chersonese Monastery (choirmaster — Deacon Alexander Amerkhanov). The choir, whose singing is a constant presence in the main cathedral of Chersonese, continues the traditions of ancient church singing and will perform both sacred and secular choral works this evening.
About the Program
The concert program spans Russian music from the Golden Age of classical music to the 20th century. It includes sacred works, opera arias, symphonic fragments, and choreographic miniatures, creating a unified artistic statement about the destiny of Russia, its spiritual origins, and cultural identity.
The dramaturgy of the evening is structured as a continuous reflection, in which musical pieces are combined with poetic fragments. The concert will conclude with a grand finale, bringing together all participants — orchestra, choir, soloists, and ballet dancers.
Venue
The choice of "New Chersonese" as the venue is deeply symbolic. It is here, on this ancient land where Saint Prince Vladimir was baptized, that Russian culture acquires a special depth of meaning. The park's space, combining historical memory with contemporary architecture, provides a unique stage for the fusion of different art forms.
